Beefeater London Dry
Robust pine-forward juniper with hints of orange, angelica, and a touch of liquorice on the nose. Mild lemon with pine facets builds into an aggressive, but not overpowering pine-forward juniper heart. Spice builds towards the end with swells of gentle coriander, liquorice root, and a bit of bitter orange.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic with lemon peel $7
-
Caorunn Small Batch Scottish
Caorunn is an expert infusion of five locally foraged botanicals and six traditional botanicals. The nose is fresh, floral, citrusy, slightly spicy and aromatic. The taste is that of a modern “London Dry” Gin, clean and crisp, sweet, full bodied, and aromatic. The finish is invigorating, long lasting, refreshing, crisp, and slightly drying.
Tonic suggestion: Indian with apple slice $9
-
Bloom London Dry
Marketed as a Gin for Women, Bloom Gin smells sweet and floral, with notes of inviting honeysuckle and citrus. Offering a somewhat oily mouth feel, Bloom Gin begins quietly, and then the juniper jumps out. Honeysuckle and bright citrus, with a hint of peppery tea. If you breathe in deeply while tasting you get a bit of the chamomile. The finish is long and flavourful, juniper lingering long and dry but never hot.
Tonic suggestion: Elderflower with apple or lime $12
-
Bombay London Dry
The nose of Bombay Dry Gin is soft with a touch of angelica rounding out then mild juniper with a pine and herbaceous facet. Citrus and a hint of gently piquant cinnamon provide lift. Bombay Sapphire Gin is quite classic with a pleasant roundness and accessible aroma. The palate is quite creamy. Bombay Dry Gin has an almost vanilla sweetness, reminiscent of gins that begin from a base of wheat— especially red winter wheat. Bitter lemon pith, creamy angelica stalk, and juniper early. Towards the finish juniper melds into soft baking spice notes. Liquorice provides a subtle roundness while other sometimes intense botanicals like coriander and cassia fade into the background, barely perceptible.
Tonic suggestion: Mediterranean with lime $9
-
Bombay Sapphire East
Black pepper feels almost like the primary flavour in Bombay Sapphire East when sipped neat, complimenting the mellow juniper fantastically. Chilled, but still not mixed, lemongrass and the underlying herbals begin to present. It is here that Bombay Sapphire East begins to taste a lot like Bombay Sapphire. The lemon, citrus notes are a little more muted here. There is a nutty sweetness, a combination of the almond and the cassia bark that come together to create the flavour.
Tonic suggestion: Mediterranean with lemon $9
-
Boodles London Dry
Boodles, named for the British men’s club rumoured to have been a haunt of men like Ian Fleming and Winston Churchill, offers a nose robust with pine, resinous juniper, and a healthy dose of angelica. A hint of spice and earthiness hovers in the background, albeit subtly. The taste is bright and juniper forward at first with a hint of caraway, there’s lemon rind mid-palate and a sweetly spice led finish, with a hint of coriander, and cinnamon bark, adding a subtle deli rye bread note here. Resinous pine lingers as well. Boodles’ finish is moderately long and quite warming.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic with lemon twist $10
-
Edinburgh Gin
A classic London Dry style with a twist of citrus. Juniper is clear on the nose. It is far less pronounced on the palate, where coriander and citrus, plus a touch of pine on the mid-palate, give great complexity and depth. It is a very clean, bite-free spirit. Use this in martinis or with good tonic.
Tonic suggestion: Mediterranean with grapefruit $14
-
Hendricks
The nose is heavy on the rose, bright and floral. The taste though is smooth and slow at first, very easy to drink. A hint of cucumber, then juniper, angelica, and hints of coriander. The finish is warm with bright hints of floral notes.
Tonic suggestion: Elderflower with cucumber slice $14
-
Hendricks Orbium
Orbium Gin is exceedingly floral at first nose - rose, lotus blossom and some earthy background notes immediately distinguish it as part of the Hendrick’s Gin Family. The palate is dominated by bitterness. Sweet citrus notes and subtle chamomile early. Wormwood comes on mid-palate. The bitterness is green, distinctive, and dries out the palate. The wormwood amplifies the quinine note, adding bitterness to the mid-palate. Quinine comes on most strongly on the finish, with a slight metallic tinge.
Tonic suggestion: Indian with lemon wedge $14
-
Tanqueray Sevilla Orange
Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla is a unique distilled gin made with Sevilla orange essences and other fine botanicals. Inspired by Charles Tanqueray’s original recipes and the ripening oranges growing on the trees in sun-drenched Seville, the result is a perfect balance of the uniquely bittersweet taste of Seville oranges balanced with the complexity of Tanqueray London Dry Gin. Best served with premium tonic and an orange wedge.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic with Orange wedge $9
-
Highclere Castle Gin
Made with lavender and linden flower, Downton Abbey fans recognise the name. Highclere Castle Gin is distilled at the Langley Distillery on a copper pot still dating back to the 19th century. The inspiration for the botanical blend is the castle’s herb garden. Highclere Castle Gin begins with a creamy, juniper led quintessentially classic nose with creamy and bitter orange zest, magnolia, and linden flower notes lending a complex, warm floral glow. Highclere Castle Gin is juniper led with a classic palate. Pine and herbaceous juniper are present throughout. The citrus is subtle and bitter, growing in intensity with a bitter orange flavour on the back of the palate on the finish. The floral notes are muted and true to the nose. Rather than a fresh bouquet, you get a jasmine, angelica glow. It adds a lot of depth to the palate, while never pulling you away from that classic juniper core. The finish is long and warm.
Tonic suggestion: Light Indian with orange slice $14
-
Monkey 47
47 botanicals with a sweet floral aroma. Monkey 47 draws on the eccentric recipe of Montgomery Collins, the man responsible for the creation of the Schwarzwald Dry Gin. The brand takes its name from its composition: 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in soft spring water from the Black Forest. The distinct and pure scent of juniper, tangy and crisp citrus notes and a flowery aroma, with a hint of peppery spices, subtle bitter fruit notes of cranberries, and a deep and harmoniously balanced complexity. The unique and intricate taste of Monkey 47 is an ideal basis for both classic and more eccentric cocktails.
Tonic suggestion: Mediterranean with lemon/berry $15
-
Sipsmith London Dry
Sipsmith London Dry Gin is classic on the nose, but distinctive. Orange zest dripped with warmed orange blossom honey lends complexity to a nose that has a traditional piney juniper with slight hints of angelica root musk and liquorice. The palate of Sipsmith Gin unfolds in three waves. Juniper with an expressed pine character comes on early, with bright lemon curd, mandarin flesh and citrus mid-palate. The finish is where some of those spice notes come through. Cassia, cinnamon and coriander merge into a vague, gentle pepperiness. There is a creamy hint of liquorice root that rounds out an herbaceous juniper note with the slightest hint of bitter orange. This finish is warm and on the long side.
Tonic suggestion: Indian with lime wedge $14
-
Tanqueray London Dry
The iconic London Dry - Distilled at Cameronbridge Distiller in Scotland. 47.3% ABV. Juniper is the predominant character on the nose. The juniper note in Tanqueray London Dry is perhaps the most signature characteristic of it, no other gin quite has that singular juniper note. An intimation of citrus zest along with candied angelica stalk and liquorice. The palate begins with juniper but finishes with rich hints of baking spice including angelica root, cinnamon, and coriander seed. The finish is a little warm, with quite a bit of heat evident, especially at the 47.3% ABV. Long and slightly warm, mostly spice-forward on the finish.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic, lime wedge $9
-
Tanqueray Rangpur Gin
Firstly, Rangpur lime is not a lime. It’s a hybrid of a lemon and a tangerine. It hits you strong and fast, a cacophony of lemon, orange, grapefruit, tangerine. It then follows up with the herbal elements. There seems to be a strong flavour of bay leaf, but also subtler hints of anise and coriander. There’s a juniper kick towards the end, but that aside this drink has more herbal and citrus profile.
Tonic suggestion: Cucumber with cucumber slice $9
-
Plymouth Navy Gin
Made with a blend of juniper, coriander, orange and lemon peel, angelica root, cardamom and orris root, Plymouth Navy Strength Gin is intense, bold and aromatic.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic with lemon peel $12
-
Empress 1908
Notes of rose and coriander together with elements of ginger, grapefruit, black tea and butterfly pea flower.
$14
-
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin
Dispel the notion that an excess of botanicals means you can’t have a classic gin nose: plenty of juniper, lemon and orange zest mingling with meadowsweet and woodruff. The texture of the spirit is rather nice, with a slightly oily, pleasant palate coating presence. Cool mint and juniper, slightly pine-forward juniper at first. Citrus, primarily lemon zest on the early mid-palate before sweet spices and flower come through. Woodruff, chamomile and herbes de Provence. Warm juniper late with echoes of vanilla cream, liquorice and birch bark. Fairly long, fairly dry finish with a gentle, pleasing astringency. The Botanist Gin manages to include a lot without seeming like there’s a lot. It’s focused, and surprising to the palate, in the way that a good perfume seems to be composed of so much less. The Botanist Gin on the palate is a perfumers’ gin.
Tonic suggestion: Cucumber w/ rosemary or apple $14
-
Tanqueray No. 10
The nose is juniper led. It has bright lime zest with hints of red grapefruit, just above a clean liquorice and angelica note. The flavours are juniper, bitter orange and lemon early, with a soft mouthfeel. Mid-palate angelica and pink grapefruit shine through. The back of the palate has creamy liquorice root, white grapefruit, piney juniper and hints of peppercorns. The finish has moderate warmth. Juniper fades leaving hints of citrus zest with earthy undertones.
Tonic suggestion: Aromatic, lime wedge $9
-
Bombay Bramble Blackberry & Raspberry
The nose is tart and berry forward with heavy aromas of currant. Angelica and hints of spice round things off and give Bombay Bramble a vague impression of its source material. The flavour is tart and rather dry, with clear gin character with cranberry early. Mid-palate there is, juniper, tart raspberry jam, coriander, and a hint of lemon zest. The finish is that of dry and un-sweetened raspberry preserves with a hint of spice.
Tonic suggestion: Lemon, berries, and mint $9
